PLEASE NOTE:  ATHENA Scholarship application deadline has been extended until December 21, 2012. 

 

The Nashville ATHENA Award Program and the ATHENA committee will bestow Scholarships totalling over $25,000 during the ATHENA Award ceremony on Thursday, March 21, 2013, at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville, Tennessee. The scholarships honoring the achievements of women in the greater Nashville metropolitan area (Davidson, Wilson, Williamson, Robertson, Sumner, Cheatham and Rutherford counties) are divided into traditional and non-traditional categories.

CATEGORY I: Traditional There are four scholarships available for female high school seniors graduating from public or private high schools located in Davidson and contiguous counties (Wilson, Williamson, Robertson, Sumner, Cheatham, and Rutherford) in the amounts of:

  • One $5000 scholarship, underwritten by the ATHENA Patrons Society;
  • Two $2500 scholarships underwritten by First Tennessee Bank and UPS, and
  • One $5000 scholarship underwritten by State Farm Insurance for the female high school senior graduating in 2012 pursuing a major in business, insurance, risk management, finance, or entrepreneurial studies.

CATEGORY II: Non-Traditional - Return to the Workforce Scholarships, first given in 2001, provides one scholarship in the amount of $5000, underwritten by Emdeon, and one $2500 scholarship sponsored by UPS, and will be presented to women who have chosen to pursue an associates or bachelor's degree later in life.

CATEGORY III: Women in Technology of Tennessee (WiTT) provides a $3000 scholarship to a non-traditional woman currently in the workforce who has chosen to pursue a degree in science, technology, engineering, or a research field.

CATEGORY IV: Saint Thomas Health Services (STHS) / WholeCare Connections provides a $4000 scholarship,where STHS is Premier Sponsor of this scholarship at $3000, with an additional grant from WholeCare Connections of $1000, to a non-traditional woman currently in the workforce who has chosen to pursue a degree in a healthcare-related field.
