Policies and Procedures

  1. DUES : CABLE offers several annual membership options. Prepaid Luncheon Member for $550 includes the cost of 12 luncheons. This annual membership may be paid by credit card. Pay-by-the-Lunch Member for $200 a year. In addition, members pay $30 for each lun­cheon reservation they make. Associate Member and Alumni Member for $125 are designed to meet special needs and must have approval from the Member Services Chair. In addition, Associate and Alumni members pay $30 for each luncheon reservation. Business Membership I for $1000 or Business Membership II for $1500 includes the cost of luncheons for one or two members, respectively, plus other benefits.

  2. RESERVATIONS: All members and guests must make a reservation in order to attend a luncheon meeting or any other event sponsored by CABLE. Reservations for a regular monthly luncheon meeting are may be made online at http://www.nashvillecable.org/or by telephone 255-9119 and must be made by noon Friday prior to the meeting.

  3. LUNCHEON MEETINGS: Members who elect Prepaid Luncheon or Friend memberships will not be given refunds or credit for missed luncheons. You may, howev­er, send a non-member in your place, as long as a reservation is made for the substitute by the normal registration deadline. Any guest substituting for a member should report to the registration table.

    Pay-by-the-lunch members, including Associate and Alumni members and guests may prepay by credit card when making an on-line or telephone reservation. Any member or guest who has made a reservation should report to the reservation table and pay for lunch on the day of the meeting. Pay-by-the-lunch members will be billed for the lunch if they do not attend the meeting for which they have made a reservation. Cancellations must be received by noon Friday prior to the meeting.

  4. GUESTS: Guests are invited and welcome, and are expected to join CABLE after two visits within 12 consecutive months. If a guest fails to attend after making a reservation, that person (or the sponsoring CABLE member who made the reservation for the guest) will be billed for that lunch. Guest lunches are $35.

  5. ANNOUNCEMENTS: Only CABLE-related announcements will be made from the head table at a monthly meeting.

  6. ADVERTISING MATERIALS: Any material that a CABLE member wishes to distribute may be placed on the marketing table outside the meeting room. Material must be approved by the President or CABLE Association Administrator. Only CABLE information will be placed on individual tables inside the meeting room.

  7. POLITICAL CAMPAIGNING: As a non-partisan organization, CABLE will not invite an announced candidate for elected public office to be a speaker at membership meetings. Already elected officials may be invited to speak or participate in CABLE activities as long as her/his participation does not promote re-election.

  8. HONORARY MEMBERSHIPS: In recognition of commitment and dedication to the mission of CABLE, the Board will, from time to time, recognize retired members by designating them as honorary members. Recommendations for consideration as honorary members should be submit­ted to the Membership Committee. If approved by the Board, honorary members will have annual dues waived, receive the monthly newsletter and annual directory, and be welcome to attend any of the monthly lunch meetings at their own expense.

  9. EXCHANGE OF IN-KIND SERVICES: CABLE welcomes and appreciates all donations of in-kind services. Exchange of membership benefits for services rendered to CABLE in lieu of cash payment, however, will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Approval will be granted only under special circumstances when 1) the value of the services received clearly exceeds the total cost of the membership benefits provided, and 2) the decision by the Board of Directors represents sound fiscal policy.

  10. MAILING LIST: With Board approval, CABLE members may purchase mailing labels for one-time use in the promotion of their own business or profession at a cost of $75. Labels may also be purchased by other non-profit organizations, at a cost of $100, to promote or publicize activ­ities of interest to CABLE members and in support of its mission. Purchased labels may not be used for political campaigns or any other partisan activities. A written request, including the proposed use for the mailing list and a sample of the mailing, should be submitted to the CABLE office for approval by the Board of Directors.

  11. CABLEzap is a listserv that will “zap” member messages to all CABLE members who choose to subscribe to the listserv. CABLEzap allows members to share information, news, and needs; and provide general assistance to members. To use CABLEzap, members address the e-mail to , provide a clearly defined subject in the subject line and includes member's name (not just e-mail address) as a signature at the bottom of the email. Recipients will be able to respond to the message directly. CABLEzap may be used for congratulating fellow members, sending resumes, posting jobs, acquiring household needs such as baby sitters, painters, etc. CABLEzap is not to be used as an advertising tool, marketing method or distribution system.   12. Adzap is a listserv that operates through CABLE's business promotion site, buyCABLEfirst.com. ADZAP allows CABLE members to “zap” business advertisements for their business to all CABLE members who choose to subscribe to the listserv. To use ADzap, address the e-mail to , provide a clearly defined subject in the subject line and include member's name (not just email address) as a signature at the bottom of the email. Recipients will be able to respond to the message directly. ADzap may be used to promote member businesses. Choose either ADzap or CABLEzap, but not both for the same communication need.
