Member Profile Spotlight: Jodie Ruediger

Jodie Ruediger joined Cable in 2017 and continues to take advantage of Cable’s professional development opportunities. “It’s truly been a wonderful networking opportunity for me. Everyone has been so welcoming, and I’ve been able to form meaningful connections and learn about the area much more quickly than if I had tried to do so on my own,” Jodie said.
So far, the most defining moment in her career was taking the initiative to ask for a promotion.
“I was the first person in my department to make it to senior level. At that time, lead roles were available in the company, but had never been built into our division. So, during my annual review, I simply asked, ‘how I can get to the next level, how do I become a leader?’ And a few months later, it happened. It was a big adjustment as no one was quite sure what that meant, so as a team we defined my role over the course of a year.”
If she could give one essential piece of advice to young professional women, it would be: “Never stop learning. Always take the opportunity to join a committee, take a class and learn from others. In addition to having lifelong mentors, connect with someone who can sponsor you at the office. This is someone who can make introductions and advocate for you.”
Jodie previously worked in community affairs, communications and nonprofit management before moving to Nashville. Now, she does contract work for Cumberland Region Tomorrow – focusing on development, strategic planning and marketing. She also serves on Cable’s Women’s Leadership Development Committee, where she can properly utilize her work experience to elevate Cable’s professional development.
Thank you for joining Cable, Jodie! We appreciate you and your dedication to Cable and our mission.

Welcome Cable Photographer: Jen McDonald!

Jen McDonald’s fascination with photography began at a young age. As a child, she begged her parents to let her take the family photos and when they said no, she ruined their photos by pouting in nearly all of them. Fortunately as a teen, Jen found an outlet for her camera curiosity, and landed her first gig as a photographer. Taking driver’s license photographs at an Ohio DMV, Jen’s work was carried in handbags and wallets throughout the greater Cleveland area.
Jen moved to Nashville to attend university and began sharpening her skills through photography classes and real-world experience. What had begun as a fun hobby was quickly becoming a life passion. As Jen viewed people, places and objects through the lens, she uncovered an ability to tell powerful and unique stories through photos. Working in the music, television and fashion/beauty industries in Nashville, Phoenix and New York City, Jen honed her creative eye and business savvy before launching in 2007.
Jen is based in Nashville but has worked on assignments all over the world. Whether she’s shooting a golf workshop in San Francisco, a romantic wedding in the English countryside or the craftsmanship of local artisans in her hometown of Nashville, Jen brings fresh perspective, skillful experience and a clean aesthetic to every new project. Her work has been published in Budget Travel, Travel + Leisure, Taste of the South, domino, Nfocus, Nashville Scene, Native, Nashville Lifestyles, Virtuoso Life, Canadian House & Home and on the Anthropologie blog. Her current and past clients include Intersport Agency, HarperCollins Publishers, Vanderbilt University, Stanford University and DVL Seigenthaler. She’s available worldwide for commercial, editorial, and advertising jobs, as well as creative portraits and marketing campaigns.

Jen, Cable is thrilled to have you as our new event photographer!
