Member Profile Spotlight: Robyn Bass

“Working closely together and building relationships are how you can get the most out of your membership.”
This is the advice Robyn Bass, a Cable member since 2016, would give to someone considering joining Cable. “Getting involved with a committee or taking a leadership role is the best way to network and stay active in the organization.” Robyn herself served on the Athena Awards Logistics Committee for Cable and learned that her greatest successes happen when she surrounds herself with likeminded individuals, and Cable has connected her with women who share her values and work ethic.
“Cable is such a well-respected organization, and for me, aligning myself with other professional women – both personally and professionally – has helped me maximize my growth potential.”
When asked about her biggest career setback and how she overcame it, Robyn mentioned that it was when she was helping start a company that failed before starting her current company a few years later. Robyn insists it was the lessons learned from her previous failure that fueled the success of her business. “Professional challenges force conversations that require introspection. What comes as a result of those conversations is always a better way and a better space to be in.”
This lesson motivated Robyn to launch and build a multimillion-dollar company from the ground up in just five years. Her company was recently named as a Top 25 Woman Owned Business in Nashville, and Robyn also just recently had her most career-defining moment when she was awarded the Hosts Global 2017 Leadership Award.
“I’m so proud to be a part of a company that promotes teaching and provides our team with opportunity to grow and thrive within our company and industry through education and certifications. Being proactive is everything I stand for and a direct result of our company’s success.”
Robyn Bass is a Hosts Global member and president/CEO of Maple Ridge Events. Her responsibilities include providing strategic leadership and establishing long-range goals, strategies, plans and policies.
Thank you, Robyn, for your commitment and service to Cable and the community. We appreciate you!

Member Profile Spotlight: Pat Matranga

Pat Matranga has been a Cable member for 20 years! After two decades as a member and now serving on the Cable board as Programs vice chairwoman, Pat still remembers why she made the decision to join Cable immediately after attending her first meeting. “After being surrounded by successful women who are constantly working on improving themselves, I knew instantly this was the organization for me.”
As a Cable member, Pat has had the opportunity to meet and network with both women and men she most likely would not have met otherwise. “An organization with a mission like Cable brings together people from all walks of life and provides a venue for everyone to have an enriching experience. I love being part of helping other women succeed AND celebrating their success.”
In her own career, Pat’s biggest achievement was designing and making the United Nations Foundation awards. These awards are handed to some of the most important world leaders, including President Barack Obama. She is also currently learning how to handle one of her biggest career setbacks. After returning home from the New Year, Pat discovered her workshop was “raining” due to a pipe burst. She is taking this challenge day by day and uses nutritional juicing, extra sleep, patience and determination to face this hurdle head on and grow from the experience.
When asked what advice she would give to a young professional woman today, she offered, “You don’t have to know everything. Get help or more training for the things you don’t. Just keep reaching toward things that appeal to you.”
Pat Matranga is the owner of Matranga Designs.

Thank you, Pat, for helping us spread Cable’s mission and for two decades of membership!

Member Profile Spotlight: Anne Martin

After 25 years as a successful Nashville businesswoman and attorney, Anne Martin made the smart decision to join Cable last year. With many friends and colleagues already established members, it did not take Anne long at all to fully grasp Cable’s mission and start seeing the many benefits the organization offers to professional women at all phases in their career.
“Cable is an invaluable and true networking opportunity, but the diversity of businesses and members represented is truly unique, and the genuine interest in supporting women in business is inspiring.”
And speaking of women supporting women, Anne praises her own professional mentor, Margaret Behm, for years of guidance and advice throughout her extensive career. “Margaret hired me fresh out of law school at 24 years old and taught me how to be an exceptional lawyer: how to practice law, gain respect of judges and, most importantly, how to treat clients. Margaret even helped me through one of my biggest career setbacks and offered me the greatest piece of advice I still carry today, “you learn much more from your losses than you do your successes.”
When asked about her personal aspirations and career goals, it is clear that Anne is passionate about her profession and not afraid to chase her dreams.
“I am currently running for Chancery Court judge, and hope to be successful on the May 1 ballot. It is the perfect time in my life and my career to make the transition to the bench. Additionally, I have practiced heavily in the Chancery Court and handled all types of matters there. The difference between being a lawyer and judge, is as a judge, I would be charged with creating a solution dictated by the facts and the law as a neutral decision maker. I am excited about the challenge!

Thank you for joining Cable and for sharing your story, Anne! We wish you the best of luck and truly appreciate your dedication to Cable and our community.

Anne Martin is a Partner and Executive Committee Member of Bone McAllester Norton PLLC. She handles litigation and is an employment law attorney.
