After relocating to Nashville nearly 30 years ago, Julia Baker, a New Orleans transplant considers herself just about a local.     She is proud to be a Psi Chi Belmont University graduate, a business owner, and an enthusiastic and active volunteer and member of several organizations making a difference in Nashville. For nearly 27 years, PAGE | DUKE landscape architects has been one of the leaders in creative timeless and elegant residential design throughout the southeast.  Along with her Principal partners, Ben Page and Gavin Duke, Julia has been the operations manager of the firm of 10 landscape architects.  Their projects located throughout the southeast, Texas, New York, Washington DC, Ohio, and elsewhere have been well published and recognized for years in architecture and design publications.

Outside of her professional life, Julia is the mother of four children, the last of which just graduated from high school and is headed to college in the fall – ushering her into a new season of life – the empty nest. Truly enjoying the role of mom for her entire adult life and anticipating this change, Julia began a couple of years ago to transition her volunteer efforts from those involving organizations and institutions where her children were engaged to causes and campaigns serving the greater Nashville community.  She has joined her energies with organizations that are making a difference in the lives of women.  This year she is serving as the President of the Board of Directors for All About Women and The Women’s Political Collaborative and the Vice President of Membership for her Breakfast Club of Nashville.  Joining the Cab!e Board of Directors as the Civic Outreach Committee chair is new opportunity that Julia is particularly excited about because it joins her two passions – women and community service – together.

Then there’s the fun side of Julia.  She loves to entertain and most weekends there are guests in her home enjoying delectable bites and bottomless libations.  Her favorite way to unwind is to peruse cookbooks with a chilled glass of rose’ and then spend a few hours at the stove. With the burgeoning restaurant scene in Nashville she tries to make a point of a weekly visit somewhere new or an old favorite with girlfriends.  She’s typically reading a couple of books at a time – a mixture of self-help/enlightenment, business strategy or growth and a good mystery novel are usually in the mix. She has been a member of Christ Church Nashville for nearly 30 years and after volunteering from the nursery through high school programs for the majority of those, now enjoys sitting on the pew for a season and soaking in Sunday mornings.  Along with her husband Gordon, Julia is loving their newest role as “Gabby and Grandpa” to Harlin (4) and Jolene (3 months).  They have crossed off some of their travel bucket list destinations the past couple of summers and look forward to visiting many more in the upcoming years
