Veronica Marable Johnson, is currently employed with the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce; where she was recently promoted to Vice-President, Member Value. Overseeing the strategic planning, budgeting and implementation of the following: 120+ programs and events, small business initiatives, six chamber area advisory councils, community initiatives and sponsorship. Prior to – she was responsible for the full sales/development lifecycle, relationship building, and customer engagement for new members on behalf of the downtown regional chamber. A true community servant for the underserved communities – whom just completed an eight-year tenure as the Director of Programs and Operations for the Center for Women’s Health Research @ Meharry Medical College. The Center was the nation’s first research facility devoted exclusively to understanding why women of color are at greater risk of certain diseases. Under her guidance she helped coordinate over 1,000+ mammograms for underserved women and organized Nashville’s 1st African American Women’s Heart Health Outreach with the American Heart Association; along with planning/organizing other community related health disparity initiatives for women of color – in the Metro Nashville Area. As the Director of Programs and Operations, she managed the Center’s Fiscal responsibilities (Federal, State & Private grants & contracts), Programs, Fund Development and Community Outreach Initiatives.
After graduating from Austin Peay State University (with a BBA in Accounting), she began her professional career with First American National Bank. She spent her formative years in Accounting, Human Resources, Credit and Consumer/Mortgage Lending. Spearheading professional women’s initiatives and chaired the first Corporate-wide (7 state) Diversity Council. In her final role – as Senior Vice President and Corporate Director of Diversity – she advocated for the first prenatal/lactation rooms to be built at the corporate office and service center locations for working mothers. After the bank was acquired by AmSouth Corp; Veronica began working as the Middle Tennessee Market Recruiting Manager for Randstad. Following her tenure with Randstad, she became the first African American female to manage a multi-million dollar sales portfolio in the Middle Tennessee Region for Roadway Express.
Veronica is currently the President/Board Chair of Nashville’s largest women’s networking organization – Nashville Cable and President/Board Chair of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women – Metro Nashville Chapter. She holds Board of Director seats on the Nashville Downtown Rotary, Leadership Nashville, Nashville Business Incubation Center, The Hendersonville Area Links, AARP-TN Executive Leadership Council, Lupus Foundation, Alive Hospice and Interfaith Dental Clinic boards. Appointed by Governor Bill Haslam to the Tennessee Women’s Economic Council Foundation. She also serves as the Rotary District 6760 Secretary; attends Lake Providence Missionary Baptist Church – where she is the Associate Youth Director, Kindergarten Sunday School teacher, member of the Social Media Ministry and the recent recipient of the 2019 Tennessee State University Women of Legend & Merit Award.
Her previous board and organizational experience has included Girl Scouts of Middle TN, TN Coalition to End Domestic & Sexual Violence, YWCA, TN Economic Council on Women, American Heart Association – Go Red for Women Society/Executive Team, Women’s Political Caucus, National Association of Black Accountants, Jr. Chamber of Commerce, Urban League of Middle TN, Junior League, SHRM, American Diabetes Assoc., American Red Cross, Trevecca Nazarene Univ. Advisory Board, ASTD, Harding Place YMCA and numerous others.
She is the proud mother of Haleigh Ann Johnson; who is a current graduate student (Masters in Accountancy) and resident director @ Middle TN State University. Haleigh obtained her Bachelor’s of Business Administration – Accounting Degree @ MTSU May 2018.
