Tara moved to Murfreesboro with her young family, in 1994, from Los Alamos, where she created and co-hosted a public television show on health issues in New Mexico.  She joined the Northwestern Mutual Financial Network in Nashville – in 2002.  As a financial advisor, she built her clientele in Middle Tennessee, and continued to broaden both her professional qualifications and her reputation for outstanding community service.

Tara’s numerous volunteer activities were recognized by the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce when she was awarded the 2002 Pinnacle Award.  Her leadership role with the Discovery Center at Murfree Spring was singled–out by the Center for Nonprofit Management in Nashville when she was named the 2007 Board Member of the Year for Middle Tennessee.  In the same year, she was presented with the Northwestern Mutual Corporate Community Volunteer Award in Milwaukee Wisconsin.   Tara is Vice President of Business Development for the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce, board member of the Convention and Visitors Bureau,  past-President of RUTHERFORD Cable, and member of the Industrial Development Board. She serves on the advisory board with Fifty Forward, the community advisory board for Nashville Public Television, and is past-President of Nashville Women’s Breakfast Club.  In 2013 she graduated from Leadership Middle Tennessee.  In 2014 and 2016, Tara was recognized as an ATHENA nominee and in 2015 was a recipient of the Women in Business award.

In June of 2012 she assumed the role of President and CEO of Discovery Center, a 32,000 square-foot children’s museum and science center adjacent to 20 acres of wetlands.
