Terri Sterling Donovan

Terri Sterling Donovan, APR, is principal of Sterling Communications, a 29-year-old marketing communications firm. Sterling Communications serves private and public sector clients with strategy, messaging, content and execution to grow their businesses and organizations. Donovan is accredited in public relations by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). She has received multiple awards from PRSA, including speechwriting, feature writing, special events and newsletters.
Donovan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Memphis and a Master of Science in Media and Communications from Middle Tennessee State University. Before opening her own firm, Donovan worked in nonprofit and corporate communications for 10 years.
Donovan served as a member of the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and Executive Committee; received the Chamber’s Chairman’s Award in 2003; and was a founding member of the Chamber’s Women’s Business Council. She served as a board member of the Rutherford County Drug Court; a founding board member of Rutherford Books from Birth; a board member of the Murfreesboro Cold Patrol; and is currently a board member of the Discovery Center.
Donovan is the founding President of Rutherford CABLE. Prior to Rutherford CABLE’s launch in February 2009, Donovan worked with the other four Founders and with Nashville Cable for several years to bring the idea of Nashville Cable’s first franchise chapter to fruition. Donovan recruited the first Rutherford CABLE board of directors and led the board for the chapter’s first 18 months, laying the foundation of the organization which this year is celebrating its ten-year anniversary. Donovan was the first ATHENA nominee from Rutherford CABLE to the Nashville Cable ATHENA Leadership Awards. She has served on the following Rutherford CABLE committees: Membership; Special Events; Programs; Networking; Member Services & Retention; Marketing and Communications; Development; and ATHENA. She continues to be actively involved in Rutherford CABLE and has served on the President’s Advisory Council since 2011.
Terri is married to Mike Donovan and has two grown sons: Chris and Jordan.
