Katina Beard, who has deep experience in public health, began her career working as an administrative assistant at Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center, the organization that she now leads. After taking on increasingly responsible roles with the non-profit healthcare agency, she was tapped as interim CEO in June 2014 with the position being made permanent the following year.
Beard is very passionate about reducing health disparities. She is a member of the Rotary Club and Rutherford Cable, and serves on the board of the Safety Net Consortium of Middle Tennessee, the Rutherford County Wellness Council, and Nashville’s Community Safety Partnership Fund Advisory Board. She is the past chair of the Tennessee Primary Care Association and the past chair of the Nashville Health Disparities Coalition.
Beard has been a Girl Scout leader for 11 years, is happily married to Michael Beard, and is the proud mother of two children. She earned her undergraduate degree in healthcare administration and planning from Tennessee State University and her master’s degree in public health from Meharry Medical College.
