Why did you decide to join Cable? When I was introduced to Cable, I saw it as an excellent opportunity for professional networking and personal relationship-building.

What have you gained/learned from joining an organization like Cable? One of the most surprising and unexpected things I have gained from joining Cable is learning how to participate in various roles on the board of directors. In addition to the professional development and growth I have experienced by being part of Cable, I have made rich and valuable friendships.

How would you describe the benefits of Cable to someone thinking about joining the organization? Cable provides a variety of resources and benefits to women at whatever level they may be in professionally. If you are a college student, it is a wonderful environment to learn to network, laying the foundation for entering the workplace. If you are a young professional, Cable allows you to meet other professionals in your industry and receive rich program content to inspire and educate you in your professional and personal development. For seasoned C-Suite members, Cable gives a platform to share your experience and knowledge with others, as well as opportunities for influence through mentoring.

What would you say has been the single most defining moment in your career so far? After 30 years of being a partner at one of the strongest and most renowned landscape architecture firms in the Southeast, the decision was made to close the doors. I had to work through a range of emotions personally, while managing the huge task of closing a business, encouraging and assisting employees with their emotions, and figure out my next career move.

What would you say has been your biggest career achievement? On the heels of the previous question, I am thrilled to say that with two amazing partners we founded a new landscape architecture firm in January of this year. BFT Land Design’s opening its doors and hitting the ground running has definitely been my biggest career achievement to date!
