Sharon K. Roberson

Sharon K. Roberson is the President and CEO of YWCA Nashville & Middle Tennessee. Prior to taking on the top leadership position at the 119-year old nonprofit in the fall of 2016, Sharon served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary of Direct General Corporation. Sharon has more than three decades of executive level business experience in the public/government, private, and nonprofit sectors.
Sharon has spent the majority of her professional career in the insurance industry, including 17 years in various executive positions with AIG/American General Life and Accident and American General Property. She also served more than a decade as a state insurance regulator, including appointments by two governors as the Assistant Commissioner for Insurance for the State of Tennessee. Sharon has held the position of General Counsel for both publicly held and private equity-owned companies. She also served as COO and Senior Vice President of the publicly held companies AIG/AGLA and AIG/AGPIC. She has managed staff in multiple states and Asia and chaired numerous insurance boards and associations in multiple states. She has held various leadership positions for several nonprofit boards.
Sharon is an alum of Leadership Nashville, Class of 2005; a 2007 and 2016 ATHENA award nominee, and a 2009 recipient of the Nashville Business Journal Women of Influence honor. Sharon was inducted into the YWCA Academy of Women of Achievement in 2011 and received the President’s Citation from the Insurors of Tennessee.
Sharon has been married to Dr. Clifford Roberson for 34 years and they have two adult children. She is an avid runner and loves crafting. She loves music and reading and football.
Sharon is a graduate of Vanderbilt University with a degree in Economics and Vanderbilt University Law School. She is a licensed attorney.

Vegetarian or gluten free meals MUST be ordered in advance or requests for them CANNOT be accommodated. Enter your request in the comment field on the reservation form or email the Cable office.You will receive a ticket with your name badge that must be presented to the servers to receive the special meals.
