Dr. Fallon Wilson, Don Hardin Group and Thistle Farms recognized for their commitment to diversity and inclusion in the community
NASHVILLE, Tenn.– Nashville Cable, the premier leadership organization for women’s professional advancement, annually recognizes a local individual, business and nonprofit organization with the Power of Inclusion Award for their commitment to diversity and inclusion within the Middle Tennessee community. This year’s recipients received the 2018 honors at a Cable monthly luncheon May 9 at the Omni Hotel.
The 13th Annual Power of Inclusion Awards luncheon featured guest speaker Linda Galipeau, who spoke on the topic of “why getting diversity, inclusion and belonging right is good for business.” Galipeau is the CEO of Randstad North America, an executive board member of Randstad Holding and chairwoman of the Randstad Innovation fund. Galipeau is passionate about diversity and has a track record of creating opportunities for others, championing women, and producing results for the betterment of the workplace and community.
The 11 2018 Power of Inclusion nominees are all known for making waves in creating and implementing diversity within their industries and spreading the importance of inclusion and acceptance throughout Middle Tennessee and beyond. This year’s individual, business and nonprofit award recipients are each creating avenues for cultural awareness and change as they seek a more diverse workplace and leadership model.
The winner of the Individual Power of Inclusion award is Dr. Fallon Wilson,CEO and co-founder of Black in Tech Nashville.Wilson was nominated because of her efforts to create more opportunities for diversity within the tech industry and to see more inclusion within the Smart City Planning Group board. She is also widely involved in the Tech Inclusion Forum and has been recognized at the local, national and international levels for her work in STEAM, STEM and tech.
The winner of theBusiness Power of Inclusion award is Don Hardin Group because of its long and storied history of diversity and inclusion within the company. Don Hardin Group actively seeks relationships with MWBEs that are interested in joining the construction industry. It also works closely with MWBEs and majority firms to partner with mentorship programs so they are able to see more diversity and inclusion within staff, boards and permanent professionals within the company.
The Not for Profit Power of Inclusion award winner is Thistle Farms.This organization is committed to serving women who are healing from prostitution, trafficking and addiction. Thistle Farms’ overall emphasis, Love Heals, has inspired its By Women For Women business model, which embraces diversity and inclusion in all aspects of its business – from the individuals they employ to the products and services they provide. Last year, Thistle Farms provided $1 million in salary to 59 women. Now 40 organizations across the country have replicated this program to bring healing to women and celebrate diversity and inclusion.
