Meagan has served as the President and CEO of the United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties since January 2013. She has led a strategic organizational transformation and collaborates with the board of directors and staff to deliver on United Way’s mission and vision. In her role, Flippin oversees finance, operations, development, IT, programs and services, marketing, and volunteer engagement. Under her leadership, United Way has experienced record annual giving and the launch of an endowment campaign that exceeded initial goals by 500%. The five largest gifts in United Way’s history and initiatives such as the Young Leaders Society, Catalyst, the Mental Health Action Initiative, the Legacy Society, Volunteer Connect, and the Afterschool Network, among others, have all been launched during Meagan’s tenure as President and CEO.
Meagan currently serves as the president of Rutherford CABLE. She is a past president of the Junior League of Murfreesboro, MTSU’s Blue Raider Athletic Association, and Murfreesboro Young Professionals. She is active within Murfreesboro Noon Rotary and the Charity Circle of Murfreesboro. Meagan serves the United Way’s state association board of directors as its resource development chair and previously served on the Saint Thomas Health mission committee. She is a graduate of Leadership Rutherford, Leadership Middle Tennessee, and the Transit Citizen’s Leadership Academy. Meagan serves on the Alpha Delta Pi Foundation Philanthropy Committee, and has earned the Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential.
Meagan has been recognized by the Center for the Arts with its “Change It!” award, is a past recipient of the Blue Raider Athletic Association’s “Most Valuable Person” award, the Junior League of Murfreesboro’s “Most Outstanding Member” award, MTSU Alumni Association’s True Blue Citation of Distinction for Service to the Community and has been an ATHENA and Nashville Emerging Leader Award nominee. Meagan earned both a bachelor’s degree in public relations and a master’s degree in strategic leadership from Middle Tennessee State University. Most recently, she earned an MBA from Vanderbilt University in May 2017.
