Karen Williams


Secretary and Past President

After graduating from Tennessee Technological University with a BS in Business Management, Karen E. Williams had a 30-year career at South Central Bell and BellSouth (now AT&T) in customer service and public relations. She has the distinction of being the first female to be hired as a management trainee in South Central Bell’s business office operations in Tennessee. Since retiring from BellSouth Karen has worked as an independent public relations project consultant and as a community volunteer. She also worked on staff at Christ Church Cathedral as Media Relations/Communications Coordinator. She is still affiliated with Communications Strategies in Nashville.

Karen served on the board of CABLE as chair of Communications, Membership and Programs, and was CABLE president in 2005-06. She remains an active member of CABLE, having served on the Development Committee and as a leadership mentor. She is an active alumna of Leadership Nashville and has served on the FiftyForward Board of Directors, the Humanities Tennessee Board of Directors, and CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) in Davidson County, and has served as a Red Cross disaster volunteer in Williamson County.

Karen grew up in Midland, Michigan and is married to Randy Williams. She has a step-daughter, son-in-law and one granddaughter. She enjoys music and reading historical novels. She and her husband are active in their church and love to travel.
